Pig Feeds

Sow

SOW

Sow Challenger (meal or pellets):  Top of the range lactating sow diet.  Contains home milled pollard to prevent constipation and high levels of energy ensure maximum milk production and minimum body   loss.  Should also be fed to the weaned sow until back in pig.

2:5 Sow (meal or pellets):  A dual purpose sow feed for both dry and lactating sows.  Again, contains home milled pollard as well as high levels of maize, wheat and soya.

Elite Dry Sow (meal or pellets):  To be fed to all dry sows once in pig.  High levels of home milled pollard ensuring sow will be content and low protein prevents excessive body growth.  Ideal to feed along with sow challenger.

FINISHER

Elite Gold (meal or pellets):  A high energy lysine ration to be fed from 40kg on.  The lysine/energy ratio ensures good grading but also rapid growth rates and good food conversion.

Elite 40 (meal or pellets):  Ideally fed from 45kg onwards and will guarantee good grading and ideally suited for feeding to very heavy pigs (90kg+).

Grower

GROWER

Elite Rearer Pellets:  A high energy grower, designed to be fed from weaning up to 45kg.  Contains high levels of maize, full-fat soya and soya.

Elite 12/40 (meal or pellets):  Designed to be fed from weaning until ready for fattening.  Contains high levels of maize, wheat and soya.

Elite 20/55 (meal or pellets):  Can be used either as a grower/finisher (after link feed to slaughter) or solely as a very high energy finisher for pigs of a very high genetic merit.  A high lysine level ensures good grading.  Again, high levels of maize, wheat and soya.

Link

Early Developer Pellets:  The rolls-royce of link feeds.  Very high level of milk products, full-fat soya and maize ensure excellent growth rates from 5-8 weeks.

Elite Link (meal of pellets):  An excellent feed from 5-8 weeks, containing milk powder, maize and full-fat soya, as well as soya, wheat and barley.

Access to the best raw materials and an in depth knowledge of their nutritional value coupled with significant N. Ireland research investment has enabled John Thompson and Sons Ltd to launch a whole new concept in pig feeding. Healthy PigsThis has resulted in improved growth rates, improved feed conversion and reduced environmental impact via lower slurry nitrogen and phosphate outputs.

This revolutionary concept harnesses our ability to monitor the quality and nutritional value of raw materials, our nutritional expertise and our in depth research into the pig’s requirements for individual nutrients.

The result is a range of diets that contain the correct balance to drive efficient production of high quality lean meat, with minimal effect on the environment.

Thompsons is the largest producer of compound pig feed in Northern Ireland.  The majority of pig farmers trust Thompsons to manufacture diets that contain the highest quality nutrients, are well balanced (especially in relation to lysine/energy levels) and that produce excellent growth rates, low food conversions, good carcass quality and hence profitability for the farmer.

Thompsons also offer a comprehensive management bureau system, which includes management organisation, performance monitoring, sensitivity analysis and unit development cash flows.
